In Proverbs 2 we’re told not only to seek wisdom but how to seek it.

“If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.”
Proverbs 2:4-5

We are to seek wisdom not just because it’s the right thing to seek, but because it’s the best thing to seek. The father is appealing to our universal desire for happiness and reward. Wisdom won’t disappoint and is worth seeking at all costs which shouldn’t surprise us when we’re told that finding wisdom is finding knowledge of God Himself.

Jesus talked this same way about the kingdom of God in two of his shortest parables.

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
Matthew 13:44–46

We need the Spirit’s help to order our desires properly to want and seek after what is more worth wanting and seeking.

This Sunday Jason Oakes will be preaching and Kenny Clark will be leading our sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare?

See you Sunday, Grace. Come hungry!
