This Sunday we will begin preaching through Paul’s letter to the Philippians in a series we’re calling Joy in the Faith: Words of Hope from a Man in Chains. If you missed our reading service on Sunday, you can listen to it here.

Paul begins his letter by expressing how thankful he is for the partnership of the Philippian church and telling them that he prays for their growth in Christ often. When we look at the body of Paul’s letters, one thing is clear. He faithfully prayed for the churches he had planted. In Philippians 1:6 we see where Paul’s confidence that God would answer his prayers came from.

“I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

Just as God had begun a good work in the Philippian church, He has begun a good work in Grace Evangelical Free Church as we were reminded so clearly in our 50th anniversary celebration. And He wants to complete what He has started.

Erik Thoennes will be preaching from Philippians 1:1-11 and Jeffrey Hubbard will be leading us in sung worship. Would you pray for each as they prepare? And would you read the passage for Sunday and pray for our church along the lines of what Paul prayed for the Philippian church?

See you Sunday!
